“ | All is connected by water. The soul dissolves, and it, too, returns to the water. | ” |
Migaeri (水帰り, "returning to the water") is a term from Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water. It was what followers of the religion practiced in Mt. Hikami used to refer to the act of dying, as people were said to have been born from the water and will return to it in death. For this reason, they believed that when people died on the mountain, wet with its water, their souls would return to the water and they would have a "proper" death referred to as Migaeri, avoiding the stigma attached to other forms of suicide.
