When building or repairing the Kuze Shrine and the Last Passage, all the carpenters of the Moriya family except for their leader must be prepared to stay behind, never to return.

Excluding one who exceeds in their crafts, all the carpenters must fulfill their duty to protect the secrets of the shrine by being buried as the sacrificial pillars lining it.

The remaining Moriya carpenter must become the Master Builder and ensure that the craft is carried on to the next generation.
