Organs (奏 Kanade) were five chosen girls to participate in the Rogetsu Kagura. Their role had them performing specific instruments to play as accompaniment for the Vessel, who danced to the music. The five instruments the girls represent are vocals, flute, drums, strings, and chimes.
The girls were originally chosen by the Guardians, whose ability allowed them to hear a person’s Moonsong, made each girl attuned to their instrument where they spent roughly four months preparing before the ceremony. Originally, the performance was the Rite of Descent, but when that failed, the performance was changed to be a more uplifting event, but kept the girls wearing masks and the instruments they played. After the dissolution of the Guardians, it is unclear how the Organs were chosen from there on out.
During the 1970's, two versions of the Rogetsu Kagura were performed, one with Tsubaki Tono for the tourists, and one with Sakuya Haibara, which was help in secret as they were intending to perform the Rite of Descent. This ended in disaster as both groups were left with catastrophic consequences.
Battle[]
The organs will always attack in groups having two attacks: moving forward before eventually grabbing the player, and teleporting away before trying to grab the player by their feet. The latter attack can be particularly difficult to avoid due to organ often teleporting away from sight, and often attacking before one can react to the filament finding them or if others are swarming the player at the same time. Only two out of the five organs can be out at a time, with the remaining members replacing the defeated organs until all five are defeated. Additionally, only one organ will attack at a time.
The best way to know if an organ will actually attack the player is if they raise their arms to grab the player. If they teleport with their arms raised towards the player, that means that the organ is attempting to grab them by the feet. Organs have two fixed encounters:
- Phase IX: Descent: Rogetsu Stage - Accompanied by Tsubaki Tono's Vessel. In this first fight, the organs will continuously respawn until Tsubaki is defeated first.
- Phase XI: Eclipse: Rogetsu Antechamber - All five organs will engage the player two at a time.
Additionally, the first fight is replayed for Mission 9-1 except with the player using Misaki instead of Ruka. The player is only given a single Type-00 Film for the fight but have a sufficient amount of Type-61 film in their inventory alongside multiple Sacred Water.
