A small key, engraved with the symbol of shadow. It was found on top of the altar.

The Shadow Key is a key in Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly, Deep Crimson Butterfly, and Fatal Frame III: The Tormented.

It, along with the Light Key, is used to unlock the door to the Cell.

The Light and Shadow key also make an appearance in Fatal Frame III: The Tormented, when playing as Kei it is used to unlock the cage containing his niece, Mio.

Hints[]

In Fatal Frame III, if picked up second and the light key first, the player will be closer to the bars when a vanishing ghost appears.
