Fatal Frame II: Deep Crimson Butterfly

Lost Village is a memo written by Mio Amakura. It is obtained in Chapter I after finding the Camera Obscura.

Fatal Frame II[]

The "Camera Obscura" is a special camera created by Dr. Asou to capture supernatural phenomenon that couldn't be seen with the naked eye.

It was designed to photograph visions of the past and spirit entities, but it was a prototype and its function hadn't been fully tested.

Photographing "thing that ordinary people couldn't see" with this camera had an exorcismal effect.

Seijiro Makabe, a folklorist who had come to investigate All God's Village, borrowed this camera from Dr. Asou to photograph the village's rumored Forbidden Ritual.

Dr. Kunihiko Asou was a folklorist who studied the spirit world.

He modified the latest gadgets of his time, the camera, radio and projector, trying to create a machine that could capture supernatural phenomenon.

He was shunned by the academic world but friends with Makabe.

Deep Crimson Butterfly[]

The Camera Obscura was developed by Dr. Asou to capture supernatural images invisible to the naked eye. These include:

   - Memories and visions of past events.
   - Spirits and other occult beings.

Only ever developed to the prototype stage, the Camera Obscura was never fully tested.

In addition to capturing images of that which should not be seen, the Camera Obscura also has a kind of exorcismal effect upon spirits.

When he came to investigate the village, the folk scholar, Seijiro Makabe, borrowed the Camera Obscura from Dr. Asou, in order to capture images of the Hidden Ceremony.

Dr Kunihiko Asou was a scholar of the spirit world. In order to study this world that normally only those with a strongly-developed sixth sense can see, he developed special equipment, including the Spirit Stone Radio, and worked on a camera that would capture images of that which should not be seen.

The nature of his research meant that he was shunned by academia, though he had a close friendship with Makabe.
